There are 10 Levels to compete in. Known as L1 - L10.
All Competitors start at Level 1.
At each level, two blank decoys will be placed out in the trial area, your dog is expected to work past these.
Level 1
Target odour:
Gun oil
Pass mark:
Requires 4 out of 5 hides to be found.
Minimum of 6 out of 10 in each criteria: safety, thresholds, system, control, indication and working to source.
General:
Number of hides will be known. Total number to be found with no false alerts called to achieve a clean sweep.
There will be no buried hides or hides at height exceeding 1 metre.
Level 2

Trial Levels & odours
Building - Indoor enclosed environment, that may contain Interior rooms/sections. Examples of buildings include halls, club huts, barns, offices, school/classroom or other indoor facility. The search size and number of rooms or sections searched will increase with the trial level. Searches should start outside of buildings/rooms to allow for thresholds to be searched.
Vehicle - A vehicle search consists of one or more motor vehicles. The dog is to search around the outer perimeter/surfaces of these vehicles such as Cars/vans/Lorries/tractors/quadbikes/Plant/Buses/train carriage. The height of the hide should be achievable and will not require dogs to climb over vehicles.
Area - Large defined search zone, any outdoor space, urban or rural. An area search is bigger and wider than a route search. May have varying surfaces within the search area (e.g grass, hardstanding etc) Examples of an area search include; playgrounds, courtyards, grassland, woodlands, open yards etc. The size will vary depending on the trial level. An area may be outlined & sectioned by rope, markers or fencing. Having a canopy or slight covering over the outdoor area is permissible.
Route - A route is narrower than an area. It is a designated outdoor corridor/roadway/pathway that is formed from the space between parallel boundaries such as fencing, hedging or buildings. Examples of routes include tracks, lanes, roads or pathways. For Trial purposes, routes may be outlined by rope, markers or temporary fencing.

You may run as NOT FOR COMPETITION (NFC) at our Trials. We want you to be confident and to learn. Running NFC can be at the Level you are working towards and one level above. This means if you are working towards your level one, you may enter a level two NFC. Once you have completed a level you cannot run in that level as NFC.
